I've been a super fan of Aaron Spelling’s 1980s mega-hit prime-time soap opera “Dynasty” my entire life!
So the moment I heard that there was going to be a one-night-only event in December 2021 - with some of the stars of the TV show - called “Our Dynasty Tales From The Set” (later renamed "Cocktails With The Carringtons") I immediately started making plans to go!
On the day of the event, my friend David and I excitingly drove from Los Angeles to Palm Springs and the beautiful outside venue of Oscars Palm Springs on East Tahquitz Canyon Way to see the original "Dynasty" stars Jack Coleman (Steven Carrington), John James (Jeff Colby) and Gordon Thomson (Adam Carrington) reunite on stage for an intimate evening of laughs, conversation, and more!
For ninety minutes, under a starry sky, they took a delighted group of fans and attendees back to the 1980s while they reminisced about all their favorite storylines and fascinating behind-the-scenes stories of working with their iconic co-stars like Joan Collins and John Forsythe and guest stars like Ali McGraw, Rock Hudson, and others.
To top it off -- there was a post-show meet and greet where attendees (including myself) got to meet and take a photograph with these three TV icons! As you can see in the photo above, I was in heaven! They were all so charming and friendly. John James and I actually became friends that night and have stayed in touch ever since.
So when I finally decided to create this podcast about my obsession with Hollywood, he was on the top of my list of people that I wanted to interview on it. Luckily, when I finally got the nerve to ask him, he quickly responded with a definitive “yes” and the rest is history.
